Description
Euonymus ‘Wolong Ghost’ is a distinctive selection of wintercreeper admired for its narrow, deep green leaves etched with luminous, ghostly silver-white veins. This low, mat-forming evergreen creeps politely to knit together spaces, softening edges and spilling elegantly over walls and containers. In cool climates it remains handsomely evergreen; in hotter regions it appreciates afternoon shade to keep foliage pristine. Tiny greenish flowers may appear in late spring, but the bold, textural foliage is the true feature.
Botanically recognized as Euonymus fortunei ‘Wolong Ghost’, this cultivar may climb if given support, though it is most often used as a refined groundcover or container spiller.

Care Tips
-
Planting InstructionsPlant at the same depth as in the nursery pot; space 12–18 in apart. Loosen circling roots, backfill with amended soil, and water thoroughly. Provide a support if vertical coverage is desired.
-
Soil MoistureKeep evenly moist during the first growing season; once established, tolerates brief dry spells. Avoid waterlogged conditions.
-
Soil TypeWell-drained loam or sandy loam is ideal; tolerates clay with good drainage. pH 6.0–7.5 preferred but adaptable.
-
HumidityAverage outdoor humidity. Ensure good air flow to minimize scale and mildew pressure.
-
Pruning InstructionsClip or shear runners any time to contain spread. Perform heavier shaping in late winter or early spring; remove any winter-burned tips.
-
Winter CareHardy in Zones 5–9. In colder or exposed sites, apply 2–3 in of mulch after soil freezes and shelter from harsh winter wind. Overwinter containers in a protected spot.
-
Planting DepthSet crown level with the soil surface; cover roots but avoid burying stems to prevent rot.
-
FertilizationIn spring, apply a light dose of balanced, slow‑release fertilizer (e.g., 10‑10‑10) or top-dress with compost. Avoid excessive nitrogen to keep growth dense and tidy.
-
Special CareMonitor for euonymus scale and aphids; treat early with horticultural oil or insecticidal soap. Provide afternoon shade in hot climates to prevent scorch. In some regions Euonymus fortunei can spread aggressively—clip runners and check local guidance.
