It’s normal for plants to look a little tired after their journey — most bounce back quickly with proper care. If your plant arrives damaged or you're concerned about its condition, please contact us within 36 hours and include a photo. We’ll make it right.

3. Where do you ship from and ship to?

We currently ship from Hopkinton, MA and Southboro, MA to all 48 contiguous U.S. states.
We do not ship to Hawaii, Alaska, or Puerto Rico at this time.

4. How old and what size are the plants when shipped?

We only offer thriving, full-grown plants — never cuttings or bare roots.
- Small annuals and perennials: Typically 4–6 months old.
- Larger plants, bushes, or trees: May be a few seasons old.

The size is indicated by the pot size, which is listed in the product title and details. For more info, please see our Pot Sizes page.

Example: A plant in a quart-sized pot is smaller and less expensive than the same variety in a 3-gallon pot, which is larger and well established over a few seasons.

5. What is the difference between a perennial and an annual?

- Perennial: Lives for multiple growing seasons. It may have a shorter blooming period, as it also stores energy to survive winter.
- Annual: Completes its life cycle in one season (grows, flowers, sets seed, and dies). With regular deadheading, annuals may flower multiple times in a season.

6. How long will it take to receive my order?

You will typically receive your order within 7–14 days.
To avoid delays over the weekend, we ship only on Mondays and Tuesdays.

If you'd like to change the shipping date or have specific delivery questions, email us. We'll do our best to accommodate you. You’ll receive a tracking number as soon as your order ships.

7. My plants just arrived. What should I do?

1. Open the box and unpack the plants.
2. Place them in a shaded spot and water thoroughly.
3. If they look wilted, they should perk up overnight.
4. After a day or two, plant them in the ground and water again.

Plants can remain in their pots for several days if kept moist and in dappled light.

8. Can you procure a specific plant variety?

We’re always happy to hear your requests. While we do our best to represent each plant accurately, availability may vary depending on season and regional supply. Let us know what you're looking for — we’ll try our best to help.

9. Will the plant look exactly like the photo?

Photos represent a mature plant in ideal conditions and are meant to help with garden design inspiration.
While we aim to send the exact variety you ordered, actual appearance (especially foliage color or blooms) may vary due to light and soil conditions.

That said — we promise you won't be disappointed with your purchase!

10. What does “cal B&B” mean in the pot size?

You may see labels like: 'Appalachian Red Eastern Redbud 2–2.5" cal B&B'

Here's how to interpret that:
- Name: Appalachian Red Eastern Redbud
- Caliper: 2–2.5" → Trunk diameter (a common tree size measurement)
- B&B: Balled & Burlapped → The root ball is wrapped in burlap and shipped as-is (often on a pallet)

Another example: 'Emperor 1 Japanese Maple, 1.5" cal, 5–6' h, 15 Gallon'
- Caliper: 1.5" trunk diameter
- Height: 5–6 feet tall
- Pot Size: 15-gallon container

11. How do you ship large plants and B&B shrubs and trees? Are the shipping charges included in the pricing at checkout?

All plants 5 gallons and under are shipped through UPS, FedEx or USPS. For those plants the price you see at checkout is the price you pay. There are no additional charges.

Anything above that size (> 5 gallon and B&B plants) requires shipping through a freight carrier. Those shipping charges are additional on top of what you see at checkout. Once you place an order, we will reach out to the Freight carriers for a quote based on the weight, volume and the destination and will communicate that price back to you. Once you confirm and pay for those charges, we will then pack and ship those to you.
