Planting Instructions: Plant in fall or early spring; set crown at soil level; space 18–24 in.; water in well and mulch lightly. -
Soil Moisture: Keep evenly moist but never waterlogged; drought tolerant once established. -
Soil Type: Rich, humus-laden, well-drained soil; prefers neutral to alkaline; amend acidic soils and add compost. -
Humidity: Average outdoor humidity; provide good air circulation to limit leaf spot. -
Pruning Instructions: Remove old/tatty leaves in late winter before buds open; deadhead to tidy, not essential for rebloom. -
Winter Care: Mulch 1–2 in. in fall; protect from harsh winter winds; avoid standing water during freeze–thaw cycles. -
Planting Depth: Plant with the crown at or slightly above the soil line; do not bury the crown. -
Fertilization: Top-dress with compost in spring; apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer after flowering if needed. -
Special Care: Wear gloves (sap can irritate); avoid frequent division or moving; monitor for aphids, slugs, and leaf spot; ensure excellent drainage.
